I am quite a new member to this listserv. It has been just 2-3 weeks =
now and I am already seeing how this type of communication is very =
helpful to budding, new, and experienced library media specialists. =
Teachers always have other teachers in the building to "bounce" ideas =
off of, but there is generally only one of us. =20

I am a "budding" library media specialist enrolled in the MLS program at =
Clarion University in Pennsylvania. I am here due to two very special =
media specialists in Columbia County, Georgia. One LMS was at Evans =
Elementary School and recognized my potential and had a few encouraging =
words for me (Hi, Penny Summers! if you are out there) and the other LMS =
was the librarian at Westmont Elementary who provided me with an =
excellent example of an effective and superb LMS during my student =
teaching experience there (her name escapes me, but I made many mental =
notes). =20
=20
I am nearly half way done with my program and I do not intend to seek =
employment in the schools until I finish, however I am already compiling =
lots of information and good ideas from this service. Thanks to the =
creators and founders and also thanks to Dr. Miller, my professor for =
introducing this listserv to me.
