My name is Blair Christolon. Many years ago I was an upper elementary
schoolteacher, but I have been a public librarian for 20 years. My job
consists of selecting books for children and teens for 10 libraries, as well
as choosing musical CDs and audiobooks for children and adults and working on
the Reference desk for one day a week. In the spring, my biggest task is to
check over 300 grade level booklists selected by our local public
schoolteachers for their summer reading assignments. It is my job to make
sure that our public libraries have enough copies available whenever the
students come in to do their summer homework. (Personally, I think they all
waited until this month to look for their assigned books, although I know
that many have been reading for pleasure since school let out in June!) I
subscribe to LM_NET to understand the school librarians' point of view. We
often have similar problems with our electronic resources. I enjoy reading
Frederick Muller's quick critiques of teen books.
