Greetings from Hokes Bluff Middle School, Hokes Bluff, Alabama:
I have been on LM-NET for about 18 months and this is my first post to =
the list; although I have replied directly to other members.  I have =
enjoyed reading the posts and have gained many useful ideas.

I am beginning my 30th year of teaching...26th as librarian.  We have =
approximately 410 students in grades 5-8 at Hokes Bluff.  School began =
on August 11th for the students and tomorrow library orientation classes =
begin.  After this week, we are on a totally flexible schedule with =
students coming to the library media center when needed (as long as they =
have their teacher's permission...I use passes.)  We have Accelerated =
Reader networked (each classroom has 2 networked workstations); a =
computer lab adjacent to the library; and use Unison (Follett) as our =
circulation/catalog.

During my years as a librarian, many things have changed but the one =
constant is books and our responsibility to help students develop the =
lifetime habit of reading.
