Dear Lm-Netters,

What a wonderful idea to encourage those of us who are mainly readers to come
out of the shadows and introduce ourselves. I'm Steve Burstein a middle school
librarian in the San Fernando Valley section of Los Angeles (where we get in
the news for all the wrong reasons it appears). my first question to LM_Net
was about four years ago when I was still working on my MLIS. A class I was
taking had me thinking about the idea of where I could find a mentor for my
then brand new job as a library media specialist. I received many replies
that explained that LM_Net basically fulfilled that role. It has done that and
more. As many have stated our role in our schools is often separate from
those of our fellow teachers. It is this wonderful community where we can ask
anything and know that there are others who understand the demands,
frustrations and joys of our job. It has been a pleasure to be a part of this
group and I thank Peter and Mike for creating the forum and also all of you
who help and create thoughtfulness throughout.
