In the back of my overloaded memory, I thought that if Congress voted themselves a salary increase, that it could not take effect until AFTER the next general election. (Rationale -- if the public didn't like the pay raise they could vote out the person who voted for it -- doesn't do a lot about not having the pay raise take effect, tho!) Now for my question: I can't find anything that confirms my memory -- I've tried Google and Infind search engines using ["congressional salaries" + law] -- also looked at LOC using the same search terms. Even called the congressman's office and they didn't know (ooops!) So... is there a different place I should look? Are there different search terms I should use?
