LM_NETTERS:

You all are wonderful and so helpful! Thank you all so much for the
responses. Here is the hit for a decade series. It looks like it's Gale
and Time Life!

Thanks again!

I suggest the "Our American Century" series from Time - Life. I

We have several decades sets. The most used
are the American Decades set from Gale and
the Time Life set, which has recently come back
into print, I think.

Order the American Decades Series by Gale Research.I have used

penny!!

We have _American Decades_ (ISBN 0-8103-8883-9) from Gale. That and
their _American Eras_ series are both great and the kids use them alot.

Gale Research (I think) has a good series called _American Decades_. Each
book
is about 700-800 pages long and covers 10 years of the 20th century from
fashion and medicine to fads and headlines. Our students have found these
to
be valuable. Gale has another series called, I believe, _American Eras_.
They
are expensive -- about $80 a volume.

Gale Research has a set in either print or CD-ROM. We purchased the
_American Decades_ in CD and really like it.

If you haven't seen the new Time-Life series called Our American Century,
take a look at it. Tons of photos and nice coverage in each volume about
the politics, fads, people, events of each decade.

Yes. Time-Life has a wonderful series.

Sharon: I really like the American Decades series from Gale. Horribly
expensive, of course. Our American studies students have also worn out two
copies of Chronicle of the Twentieth Century over the past ten years. The
New York Public Library Book of Chronologies is also useful for this class,
where the teaching is organized by decades.

We bought the decades series published by GALE. It seems to meet the
needs of students. We also have a number of individual titles that are on
the open shelves including biographies of famous people within the decades,
social movements, the music, etc. We also just purchased GALE's series on
rock or popular music. I think that once you start looking through catalogs
that you will find much material. Do think beyond the decades themselves to
people, activities, pop culture, etc. within those decades.
