Opening Day

Under normal circumstances I try to have everything up and running within
the first week or so.  The big problem is getting student records updated
on Follett, and other housekeeping things.  Since the library is automated
it takes a lot of the tedious stuff out of the picture...Follett has been a
great life saver for me, both with the beginning of the year, and inventory
is a breeze.

This year is a special problem for me.  The school district had promised to
carpet mylibrary over the summer, but...you guessed it it is not going to
be done until the middle of September.  So right now all of the library is
is in boxes and piles.  So I am going to a little bit slow getting going
this year.

I usually try to keep the library open until about three weeks or so before
the end of the year.  Inventory took me about a week last year, so I guess
that is what it will take this time around.  I like to try to get most of
my books back before the end of the year, though of course that does not
always happen.  Since our last day will be the end of May I will be closing
circulation at about the beginning of May.  Luckily I will not have to box
the library up this spring YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
