GEN: Nancie Atwell

I've gotten some very positive response about the list I posted about the
things teachers demonstrate about reading...

Just a note about the author of the list - Nancie Atwell is the guru of the
"reading and writing workshop."  Her book, IN THE MIDDLE, now in its second
edition, should be required reading for teachers of language arts, and much of
her wisdom can be applied to library people like us.  Her thoughts and ideas
totally changed the way that I taught when I was in the classroom, and
continue to inform the way I operate with teachers and students in the library.

She's great.
