Schools need to have selection polices in place that covers the use of conoversial materials. Selection policies need to state the guidelines used in the selection of instructional materials and in my opinion the selection policy should be cover Internet use. Careful selection is not a guarantee against complaints. I once had a librarian, who was facing written challenges to two books, cry on my shoulder and say, "I thought I was so careful in selection that on one would ever complain." A written selection policy, careful collection development, and objectives for the use of the library in the curriculum are far better methods.
