Target: Expectations for Student video productions

Fellow library media specialists  -

Although I have not posted publically to this group, I had responded to
individuals when I felt that I could help them.  You are a group with a
wide variety of talents and interests so I am asking for help and am
quite confident that someone will be able to help me.

One of my tasks is to coordinate the activities of our annual district
media fest which encourages entries in computer presentations, web
pages, and video productions.

If any of you are involved in this and can give me input,  please
respond to the following:

How do you judge the entries:  rubrics, checklists, etc?
Who are the judges of the entries?
Do you have specific guidelines or policies on the content / message of
the videos?
Do you encourage / require a curriculum or standard tie in?

I am most interested in video productions, but would appreciate comments
in computer presentations and web pages as well.

Our district has not had an official policy, so the guidelines have been
developed by the video teachers.  There has been some concern that last
year's entries had too much violence, too many weapons, and too little
connection to the curriculum.  Where do you draw the line between
freedom of expression and inappropriate use this freedom?
