 We do the same thing. However, students can come in every morning to
exchange books, so even my kindergartners (who get one at a time and who
may be having the book read to them as a bedtime story) should not really
have a problem with the limit. K's who have shown to be responsible (i.e.
low percentage of overdue books) are rewarded in the Spring by being
allowed to borrow two books (after conference with classroom teacher).
I've mentioned to parents (especially my volunteers) that they are
allowed to borrow books for their children (up to 10 books for a month at
a time); several take advantage of this "perk".
