President Clinton has gotten the funding for more teachers for the
schools. Perhaps it's time for the school librarians to mount a
campaign to secure funding for school libraries and librarians at
both the elementary and secondary levels.

It may be obvious to us, but reading as a lifetime activity and
information use as a lifetime activity needs people who are trained
to teach about and provide the opportunities for both..... School
librarians.
