Hello all, I like where some of the discussion is going on the "uneducated librarians" thread, like the suggestions of Alice Y. and others who make the point that we need to promote the profession, and would like to share with you a project that I am working on to do just that. I would love feedback and ideas: Through my work with my state professional organization (hello, VEMA members in VA!!), I am working with a graphic designer to create a poster that promotes the profession of library media specialist to people who may not have considered it. We are planning on sending it out to college career centers, schools of education, and school districts in our state to try to recruit teachers to make the jump to being an LMS. We have decided to focus on the three themes collaboration, technology, and leadership as a way of thinking about the poster. We were thinking about photographs, but they date very quickly....We also need a catchy headline - something to attract vibrant and (sorry) young folks to join our ranks... Any thoughts anyone? Any ideas? Any input? I do not have a design background, and the designer is not a librarian, so we throw around a lot of ideas, but are not coming up with anything great. Thanks for any ideas, Liz K. -- Elizabeth A. Kaminetz Information Specialist L.
