This morning I was found the site www.teachers.net which has a librarians' chat
board.  Posted was a message from a teacher contemplating taking a librarian's
position.  She knows that there is a MLS program near here, but thinks it's a bit
much for an elementary school position.  Fortunately someone responded (a bit 
sharply
IMHO) outlining just a few of the things she needs to know.
