Dear LM_NETTers :
     Thanks so much to all of you who tried to help my daughter analyze
Dewey call numbers (especially Mark Williams, Dr. Raymond Barber, Richard,
Paula Riddle, and Linda De Vore). We learned :
             1.  the "/" indicates where a number can be cut;
             2.  a useful website is    http://bubl.ac.uk/link/lis.html;
             3. there is no substitute for having a copy of the tables and
lots of
                 patience.
It's great to know so many generous colleagues are just a click away. Happy
holidays.
