I am looking for a poem or short story that featured the "ough" ending on English words. I seem to recall it was a discussion between a Frenchman and and English speaking person. The French man, in trying to master the English language would invariably mispronounce words ending in "ough" because the ending can be pronounced in so many different ways. Can anyone help? I was hoping to find it on the list of Language sites we received a few days ago, but didn't succeed.
