Legislative alert! You may already be aware that this month, the state legislature will consider the TEL BILL. This act will provide free access to a wide selection of electronic databases for all libraries, including public and private schools. It would include access to full-text magazine and newspaper databases, a general medical database, an on-line encyclopedia, and other specialized indexes. Most of these databases are beyond a small library's budget, and would be an incredible addition to their programs. I urge you to contact your state representative and senator, and ask that they support this bill. Also, please encourage your students to write - because this program will greatly benefit them. The Tenn-Share site has more information, as well as on-line links to your legislators! Thanks. http://toltec.lib.utk.edu/~tennshare/TEL/ ============================================================================= Beth Reardon Head Librarian The McCallie School Upper School Library 500 Dodds Avenue Chattanooga, Tennessee 37404 423-493-5869 breardon@mccallie.org Internet: http://www.mccallie.org/library =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
