HIT: TECH: boomboxes

I received several responses on the boombox question that stated they like
the following brands:
Aiwa, JVC, Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic and Sharp.
Aiwa seemed to be most recommended.

Someone said to avoid RCA and Emerson.

Another suggested to check back issues of Consumer Reports (a couple years
ago) for a comparison.

One person suggested that detachable speakers increase the usability for
larger rooms, guest speakers, etc.

A few said that, yes, buying a namebrand at a local discount store is not a
bad way to go.  They do break and need to be replaced.  Save your money for
replacement machines.
