HIT: Barcode Placement

Hi Group!
I am overwhelmed with the response I received about where I should place
barcode labels as I begin the process of automating our high school.
These are the results:
138 responded.
68 said front cover and 68 said back cover!!! 2 said on the spine
itself.
7 said on the inside and 71 said on the outside.
17 said horizontally and 94 said vertically.
20 said at the top right corner, 3 said centered, and 50 referred to the
upper half of the page; 10 said at the bottom.
7 mentioned the barcode number should be written inside the back
somewhere,
4 mentioned writing the barcode number on the title page, 6 mentioned
putting a second barcode label on the inside back cover along with one
on the cover, and 1 suggested inside the back cover.

Other comments were:
cover the label with 3M book tape, or mailing tape as a protector.
charge $3 for any missing or damaged barcode.
use a heavy plastic (like for a binder) and make an L-shaped template--
place the label on the inside of the L when applying--helped with being
consistent.
