Dear Group:
We have several 8th grade classes doing a project on "tall tale"
figures. The students need to find whether these people were of myth or
really existed. We have exhausted every avenue on the Internet and
books readily available. I have tried Stumpers. What information can
any of you provide on Steamboat Bill? Was his name really Bill
Canfield? I think that I might find the information in A Treasury of
Mississippi River Folklore by Botkin but I am not sure.
Any help would be appreicated.
