Hello Friends! I am trying to educate my staff about the dangers of copyright violation, and yesterday the principal instructed me to send an email to our staff telling them to read carefully the fine print on the back of the videos before they ask for them to be scheduled over our media retrieval system. Two teachers were irate because their videos clearly stated that they were for in-home use only (one was Disney's Mulan--a real "no-no!) So now, everyone is asking me what they *can* show and how they are to interpret what the fine print says. I have ordered a copy of Carol Simpson's new book called _Copyright in the Schools_, but it hasn't come yet. Any suggestions for what I can say? I hate to be the "bad guy" in all this, but that's how it's turning out. One person wants to tape "Alice in Wonderland" tomorrow night from tv, and show it at school. I would think that is a violation, but I'm not sure. Any advice or suggestions are surely appreciated! Thanks! *************************************************************** Bonnie LaClave Phone 765-436-2333 Library Media Specialist Fax 765-436-2630 Thorntown Elem. blaclav@in-motion.net 200 Mill Street Thorntown, IN 46071 http://www.bccn.boone.in.us/webo/thorn *************************************************************** =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
