I missed the discussion on usage, but just scanned the archives.
Interesting topic that I have been thinking about, too. We are busier than
ever, teachers have scheduled their classes into the labs and media center
through May. But usage patterns are definitely changing with electronic
and school wide access to information. Perhaps fewer books get checked
out, but more kids are accessing more information. Lot of that here in
Minnesota is because of the state graduation standards that are very
dependent on non-textbook resources.

What reallly keeps busier is planning with teachers, staff development
etc., keeping all the labs etc going. It's all just another example of
our changing programs and meeting the needs of teachers. I think it's
important to think about _Information Power_ and the emphasis on measuring
_programs_ , not numbers, and asssesing student learning, not "stuff."
So, we all need to rethink our ways of assessing what we do and "measuring"
in ways other than numbers. But, I do think numbers are still important
because they are easily understood; just accompany them with other types of
information.

I wrote an article about data gathering that was published in the newest
Book Report/Technology Connection.
