It doesn't only happen to us.  My mother began teaching before you
absolutely had to have your degree. She was an excellent Kindergarten
teacher. And although she was grandfathered in when her state changed
requirements, she had the pride and determination to complete her bachelors
degree in education (two years before I got mine!).  When she graduated,
everyone asked her if she was going to teach "real School" now.
