Colleagues

Where would a librarian find Books-in-Print from back to fifty years
ago?

How would a librarian go about finding bibliographic information about
book out of print from that many years ago?

I tried the Library of Congress on-line, but their computer records do
not go back that far.

Would the publisher of Books-in-Print have old volumes?

Is there a web-site that might help me out?

Any ideas from reference librarians out there, who are asked about
titles long out of print?

Thank you for any help you can give.
