GEN: Thanks and New Year's wishes

Before we all get caught up again in our busy lives,
please join me in lifting a virtual cup of cheer to:

Mike and Peter, who started LM_NET and keep it going,
and to the brilliant soul -- whoever/wherever you are --
that invented the listserv/BB format that has allowed us
to:
--discuss knowledge, ideas, concerns and visions,
--provide answers for reference conundrums,
--discuss books and movies that impact our lives and work,
--share grins and giggles in our virtual faculty room,
--offer comfort and companionship when no-one else
"understands" what we do,
--give technical help when we're at wits' end,
--allow old acquaintances and new friends to meet and 'talk',
--keep our mailboxes filled (sometimes overflowing) so that
we know that we are always part of a real community, who care
for and about each other in more ways than many of us can ever
know in our 'real' buildings.
