Dear LM_Netters, A parent who is here for a year from Paris is reading a lot of American plays and is stumped by the term "Yellow Jack" he came upon in a play entitled "Seven Guitars." Perhaps you play literate colleagues can help him out. The lines are: "Bad as I need some money, I wouldn't care who it was. Buddy Bolden or anybody else. High John the Conquerer. Yellow Jack. Brer Rabbit. Uncle Ben. It could be anybody." Is this a character I should have heard about in Black literature? I have been concentrating on elementary for a while now, so maybe it's just a poor memory. Any help from you for him would be appreciated. TIA.
