TARGET: ELEM-EAST COAST ONLY - COST OF AUTHOR VISIT

I have 2 wonderfully ambitious new teachers who wrote a grant that included
having an author visit our school. They have not decided on an author, they
just put in an amount ($3500).  The committee that oversees the grants  would
like more information about author fees .

I wrote a similar grant 2 years ago for a relatively local author (Doug
Florian) for $1000 and I want them to be able to go back to the committee and
show that this is not an unreasonable amount (if they want someone who needs
transportation, lodging etc)

If you have hosted an author within the last two years and would be willing to
tell us who you had and what the fee was, we'd be most grateful.
