Thanks to all of you great folks--I had about a dozen replies and 5 or 6
requests for a hit. Pretty much everybody said the same thing--here it is
step by step from Monica in Australia--thanks to all of you--my others are
at school and I am at home now. My mistake was in not saying I was on a PC
(I was so thrilled I remembered to say Netscape Communicator, I forgot the
*other* part I was supposed to be reporting...

from Monica

I'm going to open up Communicator and try to
write this step by step (however, I'm NOT on
a PC, so it may differ a bit.)

1. Select Bookmarks
To do this you need to either go to Window and
select Bookmarks or use the shortcut Bookmarks
that should be a drop down window on your screen.

2. Then select Edit Bookmarks.
This should open up a window for you that
shows a list of your bookmarks.

3. Save the current boomark file.

a. You do this by first Highlighting the very
top layer of bookmarks, usually the one that
says "Bookmarks for ..."

b. You then go to file window and select
Save As. At this point you can save the
file onto a disk. Don't forget to save this
file as something.htm or something.html
You can replace Something with another name
of course but I do NOT suggest using straight
Bookmark. However, write down the name of
the file so you know what you are going to
copy to the rest of the computers.

4. Import this file.

a. On another computer you need to go through
steps 1 select Bookmarks and 2 Edit Bookmarks.

b. From file window choose Import. Type in the
name of the file you created above (you may have
to tell it what drive to look on as well.)

5. Clean up the bookmarks file.

This way of moving the bookmarks file, leaves
any of the other bookmarks that were on the
other computers intact. If you no longer
want the bookmarks show there, you can delete
these while in edit bookmarks.

There is a way of replacing one bookmark file
for another, however, you run the risk of
loosing something that might have been
bookmarked on another computer that wasn't
bookmarked in your original file.

If this doesn't work, e-mail back with what
step seems to be causing the trouble. You
don't mention what type of computers you
are using and if they are networked. There
may be a better way of doing this depending
on those factors.
