Third graders can easily use Word, but ours prefer The Writing Center...it
has formatted newsletter templates, etc...But, if Word is what you have, use
it and import pictures from KidPix...

I have created a school newspaper using HyperStudio...it is a LOT of
work...for something which ALL the students and parents will view, I have
found it is better to use a program like The Writing Center, AppleWorks
(ClairsWorks), or Word...

I also once worked on the school newspaper with a teacher who did the paper
the "old fashioned way" by having the kids type within 3" columns, printing
them out, then cutting and pasting to actual newspaper sheets which our local
paper supplied...Again...a LOT of work..it looked very professional, but a
great deal of work.

My suggestion: keep it kid-like...the kids will enjoy it more...and make sure
they don't have a "gossip column"...hurt feelings, you know...
