Target: Professional resource collection

Currently, I am studying to be a school media specialist. I have not at
this time determined which grade levels I will work with, so I want to
pose a slightly hypothetical question.

I work at a K-12 school. I have been given funds to develop a professional
resource collection for the school's staff. I am estimating I have enough
to purchase 10 items each for the three major grade groupings (K-5, 6-8,
9-12). My question to the wonderful, helpful people at LM-NET is what
books would you suggest as must haves for the professional resource
collection?  Are there any must haves that cover the whole spectrum of
K-12?
