New Library Media Teacher credential program

The new Library Media credential program at California State
University Sacramento has extended its application deadline until July
16, 1999.  The regular university graduate application and a LMT Service
Credential Application must be submitted to the Dept. of Teacher
Education.  Contact JoAnne Breese by phone(916-278-6155) or
email(breesej@csus.edu) for more information.

The credential program consists of 11 cousrses for a total of 31
graduate credits.  Each course will be offered once during the program,
which begins in September, 1999 and ends in August, 2000.  All courses
will be held at the Sacramento County Office of Education which is
located near Hwy 50, east of downtown Sacramento.  Each class will be
one month in duration and meet every Friday evening and all day
Saturday.

All of you are aware of the serious shortage of credentialed LMTs.  The
success of the CSUS credential classes is critical to improving school
library services in the Sacramento Valley region.  Although initial
interest was high, few applications have been submitted so far.  Please
make it a priority to recruit good teachers for this and other LMT
classes.
