I have moved from a middle school to a high school and will be assigned eight student media assistants per semester (two each for four 90-minute periods). I do not doubt my ability to keep them busy, but I would like to be able to justify the elective credit and high-school grade they will get by having them actually LEARN something. Is there a structured curriculum in place that tells what should actually be covered in a high-school media assistants' program, and does it allow for any progression for students who are returning to work in the media center for a second year? School begins on August 9, and I would love to have the foundation laid for my "course" by that date. Thanks for your suggestions.
