I would appreciate any suggestions you might have regarding a request I received at the end of school in May. A third grade teacher asked me to recommend some novel that she can do with her classes in the early part of the year--October probably-- that incorporates water in some significant way. The children really study water in depth, and they try to tie in books any way they can. The challenge is to get something with that water component that also has a not-too-tough, not-too-easy reading level, that also would appeal to a whole class! in the past they have used _The Well_, but they want something different now. I've been chewing on this for a few weeks now, but I'm coming up short on ideas. I'd like to be able to share with this teacher suggestions from other professionals across the country. Any thoughts would be helpful and appreciated!
