I am seeking a book I from eight to 10 years ago. It was not specifically intended for school libraries but ours had it at the time (I was a teacher in another school) and I'd love to have it in mine now. It was a compilation of striking (of course) black and white portrait photographs of women, most (all?) African-American, with brief/one page commentary for each. The photographer/author was a white male. I mention this because publicity concerning the book often made as much about his characteristics as the book itself. I seem to remember a television program about the book (PBS?). It was less than an inch thick, approximately 11" tall and 12" wide, and white with one of the portraits on the cover with its title. Every one loved this book, especially the kids. I can hardly believe I'd forgotten it. Reply to me and I'll post the title to the group. Tim Timothy G.
