The School of Library & Information Studies at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison will offer an interactive continuing education course via
the Internet on Virtual Collection Development. Every day, new resources
(both free and licensed) become available in electronic format on the
Internet. How does this impact traditional library collections? In this
on-line course, you'll learn how to select and evaluate these resources,
what policies should be in place, how libraries are delivering electronic
resources to patrons, and how to use the Internet as a collection
development tool. Two sessions of the course will be offered: September 27
- November 7, 1999 OR November 8 - December 19, 1999. The fee is US$285.
More information about the course and its format can be found at
