Texas State Library and Archives Commission

Starting Salary - $3,111 - $3,359/month
Available August 1999


JOB DUTIES:

Consult with Texas librarians, library systems, library boards, and
interested citizens in the areas of children's and youth services.
Plan, coordinate, implement, present, and evaluate a statewide program
of continuing education in children's and youth services.
Manage the Texas Reading Club program.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in library or information science from an American
Library Association accredited library school.
Two years library work experience.
Two years work experience or formal education in one or more aspect of
children's or youth services.
Experience in the design and production of training and/or training
meetings.
Experience using computer software such as word processing, spreadsheet,
database, or HTML editor programs.
Ability to analyze data, to formulate conclusions, to develop policies
and guidelines and to write reports.
Ability to work well with individuals, groups and other consultants.
Ability to speak before groups.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years work experience as a professional librarian or manager.
Professional work experience in one or more aspect of children's or
youth services.
Library management experience in children's or youth services.
Work experience in different types of libraries.
Experience in the design and production of manuals/printed documents.
Experience in web page creation or design.
