TARGET: Texas Only--Info for educators new to state?

        I am working on a grad assignment which involves looking at issues and
policies in Texas education. To that end I have, no kidding, followed
every link at the TEA website and kept a journal of my observations. It
was very educational, but also quite a long procedure. I am now
convinced that this site holds much more information than most Texas
educators may realize. However, there are resources helpful to educators
in Texas which are NOT referenced. For instance, there was no direct
link to NASA or to RiceInfo/Texas Armadillo WWW Server.
        The "other" part of my project is to design a web page which welcomes
newcomers to Texas and offers helpful links. I am wanting things NOT
offered via TEA site. Do you have any absolute favorite sites which
would be good for an educator/parent/family new to Texas? TEA does not
offer a lot of subject specific links, though it does connect with Texas
Parks and Wildlife and Texas State Library and other government
agencies. Also, specific discipline-related organizations are not always
linked. (Example TSRA, Texas State Reading Assocation, TMEA, Texas
Marine Education Assn., TCET, Texas Computer Education Assn. are not
included).  If you have any favorites bookmarked, or any you think I
should search for, I would be most grateful for suggestions. I may also
include some sites for travel, local color, etc., and would appreciate
your ideas of the best of the best. I doubt this warrents a general
posting, but will gladly share my list of sites with anyone who
requests, and might post a link to my web page if it turns out looking
like it is worth visiting.
