Assistant Editor, Books for Youth Booklist Magazine American Library Association Booklist is seeking and enthusiastic professional with editorial and children's literature background to join the Books for Youth section of the magazine. Duties include writing lively, timely, and authoritative reviews and feature articles on children's and young adult books, reevaluatiing adult materials for use with teens, and editing submissions by freelancers. In addition, the assisant editor often represents Booklist in public and sometimes serves as the magazine's liason to the library and publishing communities, and to the youth divisions of ALA.Extensive knowledge of children's and young adult literature and of the library market is required, as is professional writing and editing experience, preferably with a library periodical. The ability to work well under deadline pressure is a must. A Master's degree in Library Science is preferred. We provide a competitive salary and benefits package.
