Since the question came up on LM_Net over the weekend, I ran a test with my usual newsgroup reading tool, deja.com (used to be dejanews) to see if our proxy server with URLabs I-gear would block. The proxy allowed me to search for newsgroup alt.sex. After scrolling through several pages of message listings about spam canceling, I finally came to a couple of messages cross-posted with alt.romance that seemed likely to trigger the content screening, including one whose subject was bowdlerized to ______. Sure enough, the dynamic screening software screened the content and displayed an Access Denied message. Don't know how this would apply to more conventional newsgroup subscription technique, but for those concerned about filtering newsgroups this is a partial answer. Don't know if those having mandated filtering software like me will be able to read this message; I'll try it with a back copy and see. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Jeff Cornelius Computer Media Technician (PC doc) Augusta County VA Schools jcorneli@augusta.k12.va.us ------------------------------------------------------------------------ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
