I have searched the archives and have not found what I am looking for. Our district is planning a new elementary school. The plans look like the library has very little shelf space. Is there a formula to figure how many shelves are needed for x number of books? The school is being built for 900 students so at 10 books a kid we are talking a minimum of 9,000 books. Also, is there a recommended height for shelves. I have 39" shelves, but it only allows for 2 shelves if you stand books the correct way. I prefer 42" shelves so fewer books have to be turned sideways and you can still fit three shelves per section. Didn't know what the consensus was on that issue. Thanks for your help.
