Subject: Re: Sec. - Eng.

This is a second request - I'm hoping someone out there can help. What
process does your district require for the approval of literature (in
addition to the textbook, that is) to be used in the classroom? We have
never been required to receive pre-approval for trade books, newspapers,
magazines, short stories, etc. but this year there was problem, and now
all non-textbook literature must also be approved by the Board of Ed.
before classroom use. We're finding that our textbook adoption form
doesn't really apply to this type of literature so we're about to design
a new form and I was hoping we wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel.
Incidentally, this does NOT apply to library books, in any way, I'm just
helping out some of my colleagues. I brag so much about this great
listserv, but received no help with my first posting. Thanks in advance
for any input you can give!
