LM_NET: Library Media Networking
What a shame to keep this delightful book from direct use by children. I'm
not being critical as we have to do what we have to do -- but here a
possible alternative.
We had two books that had "lost the cricket chip" -- so when we discussed
Eric Carle I brought out the Putnam/Scholastic tape of Eric Carle and would
read the story from the book, then cue in on the section where Carle is
reading the end of the book. When we got to the part where the cricket was
supposed to chirp we tried it -- of course it would not work. Then we
watched the video and heard the chirp of the cricket. Then we reread our
chirpless copy and made the sound ourselves. We did that several times
until we were expert chirpers. We never again worried about hearing the
chirp. Such fun!
