Dear all, My principal just informed me that there is a club in our community that is wanting to work with our school. The club will be working with African-American and ESL children (predominantly from Bosnia and Laos, although we also have Spanish speaking children). The club wants to buy each child a book, but the idea is that the child will then donate the book to the school library so that the child can grow up reading "his" or "her" book which is located in the library. They are wanting a list of approxiamately 30 books because apparently they are ready to start buying, and my principal wants a list by Thursday at the latest! They are specifically interested in buying books that are multicultural in nature and that are fairly easy to read (we are an elementary school). I am a new library media specialist and do not have at list of titles in mind, so any help you could give would be appreciated. I know that there are some Internet sources, but our Internet access is currently down and I'm not sure when it will be available again! Thank you so much, Julie Miller-Breetz, library media specialist Engelhard Elementary Louisville, KY jbreetz1@jefferson.k12.ky.us =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
