Several 11th grade English teachers are having their students do Civil Rights related topics for the spring research paper. I would like to be able to direct the students to some good civil right related web sites. I have found a few--what are some of your favorites? This unit will be used with ninth grade English teachers. We will use the classic Great Expectations and pair it with titles such as Gary Paulsen's Dogsong and Robert Lipsyte's The Brave. We would like to include titles with female protagonists. We are considering Zora Neale Hurston's Their Eyes Were Watching God. What other titles would you suggest to include in this unit? We are also open to titles that may fall under genres other than fiction. We appreciate your help.
