Dear Group, Below is a compilation of my recommendations and your insightful responses. Thanks for your assistance. •STAFF TECHNOLOGY TRAINING/EDUCATION •STAFF TECHNOLOGY TRAINING/EDUCATION •STAFF TECHNOLOGY TRAINING/EDUCATION •minimum two computer labs in each school •county library system that supports interlibrary loan/union catalogs/resource sharing/web - off-site access (remote access)----VERY important •Networking -- high speed and decadent levels of bandwidth to support full video and two-way synchronous conferencing •video conferencing/ satellite technology •Each Teacher needs: large screen high resolution TV/flat screen TV presenter to convert computer resolution to TV resolution license for high tech multi-media presentation software (such as PowerPoint) on ALL computers computer with internet access (facilitate communication with parents, colleagues, administration-----create paperless memos) vcr/DVD player an instructional workstation PLUS X number of systems per X number of students. •Every grade level/department needs: scanner, 2nd or 3rd generation digital camera laser B&W printer(s) laser color printer •Every school needs: professional video editing equipment TV production studio •satellite broadcasting/reception •cable & satellite internet access •interactive distance learning for all levels in all subject areas •laptop computers for teachers at-home use •obscenely fast audio, video and data transmission •classroom independent learning modules.....software and hardware •knowledgeable computer troubleshooting technician at every building •building level computer educator to provide inservice training to staff on technology updates and technology integration •DVIX, plasma panels, HDTV, DMD •wireless access, internet access built into TVs •remote mouse and keyboards for computers •fiber optic network for the district •one or more on-site multi-CD-ROM/DVD players/servers/towers •computerized embroidery sewing machine •tech ed instructional module stations •data projectors or digital projectors I’m sure this is just the tip of the iceberg for technology needs. Some of the above suggestions will probably be obsolete in 5 short years.
