Our first year language curriculum for 9th grade students involves research of individual countries. I have Culturgrams and Gale's Worldmark Encyclopedia of Cultures and Daily life. Other series of books on individual countries, such as Cultures of the World Benchmark Books are more for the 5th-8th grade age group. I am looking at individual travel guides for countires, but often the small pocket size of the books isn't the best for library editions. Any suggestions of series on countries you have purchased for this age level? Have you purchased Travel Guides like Frommers for each individual country? One source book on countries in South America obviously doesn't work for a class of students. Students do use internet sources as well, but I am interested in adding print.
