"Was anyone else stupified to hear (on MSNBC last night) that the mother of
one of the shooters had her hair done the next day? ... when I was watching
this recount of the week's details that struck me as *beyond* odd. I have a
son, and I can't imagine myself making or keeping a hair appointment in the
wake of such a
thing."

I must comment that while this behavior may seem odd to some people, it is a
slippery (and even dangerous) slope to judge what is "right" behavior for
someone who is grieving.

Maybe the mom wanted to look nice for the funeral.
Maybe the mom thought a hair appointment was theraputic--she could talk to
her stylist as she might a counselor.
Maybe routine was something she craved in this horrific time of her life.

Even in ficiton stories we often see characters who are judged incorrectly by
the way they show or don't show grief...children not crying, not talking,
acting unusually etc.

Please be cautious when making assumptions about what is happening in a
grieving person's mind.
