An R rated movie means that the child cannot get in unless accompanied by
a parent or guardian.  Many parents have taken their kids to R rated
flicks, and just because one sees a child walking out alone does not mean
that the parent was not there.

When my children reached that "certain age," they often walked ahead or
behind me and my husband so nobody would know we were with them.  I always
tried to be sensitive enough so that I did not acknowledge their presence
until we were in the car.
