We would like to get some feedback from other librarians about a problem we've been having with keyword searching. We are using Winnebago Spectrum. When doing a keyword search, you must enter the keywords in the correct order to be successful in your search. For example, if a student is searching for a book we own, Religions of the World, and searches using the keyword phrase "world religions," that book will not appear on the results list. This morning a student was trying to find the diary of Anne Frank. She did a keyword search using "Anne Frank." The book did not appear on the results list because the title is Diary of a Young Girl, and the author entry is "Frank, Anne." It seems to us, the order of the words should not make a difference when doing keyword searching. Do other library systems have this same method of keyword searching? Does this seem acceptable to others using Winnebago?
