Dear fellow LM-Netters,
Perhaps your collective knowledge can help with this problem. I am in a
middle school. One of our social workers approached me today, asking for
a recommendation of book or story that could be read aloud to address
the following complicated, sad situation:
A sixth grade girl had sex with an eighth grade boy. To make matters
worse, knowledge of this fact has gotten out among the other students in
her class and the other girls are making life miserable for her. Now,
not only does she have to deal with the original poor choice she made,
which she deeply regrets, but the constant harrassment by her peers. The
social worker is looking for something that will address the possible
topics of making choices or of gossip, or any other topics that might
help this poor girl heal.
Thank you for any suggestions you might have. My mind drew a blank.
